The Fit Cats and Fat Whores of Singapore
by Clover Kreger
How sleek the street felines of Singapore!
Dining divinely on gourmet garbage
in an anonymous existence; no one takes umbrage
as they prowl the city markets’ floors
touched not by taxes, making no wages
in scuffles and wrangles, but waging no wars,
torsos in trim and faces like sages. . .
While hulking in houses the Singapore whores
display painted plumpness in hopes of some wages
the cat never has to hope or implore
While the prostitute, soon to be destitute, ages,
the feline, unshackled, is free to explore
